Mark David Major, AICP was born in St. Louis, MO. He is a graduate of Clemson University, SC and the University of London, UK.
Before establishing MAJOR Planning LLC, Mark worked for Pulte Homes/Del Webb in Jacksonville. Mark managed the planning and entitlements for several projects, including Riverwood by Del Webb at Nocatee in St. Johns County, FL.
Previously, Mark was Senior Planner for the Nassau County, FL Growth Management Department. He reported directly to the Board of County Commissioners and Planning & Zoning Board on PUD and rezoning applications, comprehensive plan amendments, and drafted the Unified Land Development Code. He also wrote the Interlocal Agreement with the Nassau County School Board and the Public Schools Facilities Element of the Comprehensive Plan.
Mark is a former Director of Space Syntax Limited, an urban design and planning consulting firm in London. He served as a planning consultant to Stanhope LLC, Foster & Partners, Richard Rogers Partnership, London Metropolitan Police, and HOK International.
Mark is Chairman of the First Coast Section, Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association. He also served on the Jacksonville Economic Development Corporation and Mayor John Peyton’s Residential Taskforce for the City of Jacksonville Downtown Master Plan. Mark is single and lives in the Riverside area of Jacksonville.
